Eric Bernstein, MD discusses ultrasound treatments

UltraShape ‘Blasts Away’ Fat

This non-surgical fat reduction treatment uses pulses of ultrasound waves to melt away selected fat cells without damaging surrounding skin tissue. Clinical trials conducted by UltraShape’s manufacturer have found that the average patient reduces his or her body circumference by 4 centimeters (1 ½ inch), with some patients seeing a reduction as great as 10 centimeters (4 inches). This device has not yet been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration, however.

The Treatment Goal

UltraShape is used to reduce fat on the abdomen and thighs.

The Ultrashape Procedure

The UltraShape procedure can be completed in less than an hour. No anesthesia is required. The doctor glides the device’s hand piece over the treatment area, delivering the ultrasound energy into the skin at a precisely determined depth. Afterward, you can resume your regular activities. Results are usually visible after three treatments, which are usually staggered at two-week intervals.
